10s Bombed out!
5th Feb, 2008
The Billingham Bombers U10s arrived down to the Telford pad for the re-arranged fixture short handed and forfeited the game to Telford 5 0. Whilst the 2 points were welcomed a win in the challenge game that followed was needed to re-kindle the Venom kids season. The initial 2 shifts were cagey affairs with both sides probing looking for weaknesses, then the game opened up with the short handed North East outfit iced their impressive first line against the inexerienced Telford 3rd line. The Venom line were soon breached and the Bombers went 1 up. The kids held out to the end of the shift for a well earned breather. The Telford 1st line went out looking to restore parity and Tipton broke from the half way line and waltzed in on the net before rounding the netminder and sliding the puck home. The Bombers then went on a goal spree with the 1st line coming out every other shift to open up a 6 goal lead. Thompson-Howe then picked up a loose puck in the Bomber half and turn and shoot into the net, to end the period at 7 2.
The second period saw Billingham increase their lead and add 2 goals quickly, which ended any hopes the Venom had. A further 3 goals were added before Tipton set Thompson-Howe of to score Telford's third. The Bombers scored their 14th goal of the game before the goal of the game. Jepson picking up the puck in his own half and going on a mazey skate, holding of the Bomber D then slapping the puck in to finish the scoring at 14 4 to Billingham.
Spirit of the game for the Venom went to Rio Robinson for the resolute D work on 3rd line.
