The Whitley Bay Mischiefs arrived down at Telford from the snowie North having won 5 games on the trot. This was compared to the Venom youngsters who had lost their previous 4.
The puck dropped and both 1st lines went for a quick goal, with the Venom looking the more likely. This resulted in Whitley taking an early penalty and the Venom getting a Powerplay. Over eagerness however by the Venom allowed the Mischiefs to break and score a short handed goal. The game then ebbed and flowed with both teams pressing for the second goal of the game. With the Telford kids camped in the Whitley zone, the Mischiefs again broke to add a second. The Telford 2nd line had more than matched their counterparts until the 15th minute when Whitley added their 3rd. This rattled the line and number 4 was added on the buzzer. Jesson who had threatened for most of the game finally broke free to score Telford's opening goal of the game. With 9 seconds of the period left Whitley added their 5th of the game.
The second period started with the Venom looking to take something out of the game. Parker fed Fielder for a well taken goal then Jesson again broke away to waltz in fr the Venom's third. The Telford kids had rattled the travelling Mischiefs and pushed forward for number 4, but the dangerous Finlinson skated free to restore the Mschief 3 goal advantage. This deflated the kids who dug in but conceded a further 4 goals finishing the game at 10 3 in favour of Whitley.
Spirit of the game for Telford was Joe Thomas who covered most of the ice on his defensive duties on 2nd line.
