U16s finish their league games to guarantee finals place

Rockets Secure Place and go to the National Finals.
The weekend arrived for the last two games of the season.
First the return game to bottom of the table Flintshire. After a decisive win last Sunday at 22-0 it was time for some our development players to see what they can do. Flintshire turned out a little short on the bench managing 2 netminders and 12 out skaters to Telfords 17 players.
Flintshire were in for a long haul and would have to work hard. Telford only managed to score 3 goals in the first period from Luke Brittle, Ryan Twardun and Mike Steventon. Flintshires net minder was having a great game and keeping Telford at bay.
Lewis Sayer player his first league game scored a goal at 18.28 assisted by Edward Eaton and Luke Brittle. The tide began to turn as Flintshire began to run out of steam and four more goals made the net, two each from Luke Brittle and Mike Steventon.
The seconded period ended Flintshire 0 Telford 8 .
Telford continued to dominate the game and in the third period 5 more goals came our way from Mike Steventon 2, Callum Taylor assisted by James Callagher in his first game of the season, goals also by Luke Brittle and Andrew Whitehouse.
Flintshire scored a cancellation goal at 44.03, a well deserved effort from their strongest player Yugo Fuchiwaki.

Sundays game with Newcastle at Telford.
The last game of the season is upon us. It doesn't seem too long ago when we travelled to Whitley Bay for number 1 game in September last year.
At Newcastle in January the Rockets came away with an 11-1 win so todays game on current form they expect to win. Newcastle started very strong and physical contact dictated most of the play. They opened the score at 5.57 but the Rockets equalised
at 7.43 goal by Mike Steventon and closely followed 2 minutes later by Paul Rigby.
End of the first period 2-1 to the Rockets.
Two more goals came in the second by Luke Brittle and Edward Eaton to go in 4-1 in the lead.
At the start of the 3rd period 3 quick goals in a 2 minute period secured the game for the Rockets by Luke Brittle, Luke Hayward, Callum Taylor . Newcastle added at second at 35.54 but we replied with 2 more in 2 minutes by Adam Taylor and Paul Rigby.
Telford the winners 9 - 2
The team has worked very hard during the season and they all deserve their place in the National Finals in May.
Congratulations also go to the coaching staff -
Tom Watkins (Coventry Blaze player) and Mark Hazelhurst (ex Telford Tigers) and not forgetting the managerial staff and all the support from parents.
The Rockets have achieved a great result for Ice Hockey in Telford and there is more icing on the cake as our U12s have also qualified for the Nation Finals .
